About us
We are Northallerton Repair Café
Located at Northdale, Northallerton
Repair Cafés are free meeting places and they’re all about repairing things (together). In the place where a Repair Café is located, you’ll find tools and materials to help you make any repairs you need. On clothes, furniture, electrical appliances, bicycles, crockery, appliances, toys, et cetera. You’ll also find expert volunteers, with repair skills in all kinds of fields.Visitors bring their broken items from home. Together with the specialists they start making their repairs in the Repair Café. It’s an ongoing learning process. If you have nothing to repair, you can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee. Or you can lend a hand with someone else’s repair job. You can also get inspired at the reading table – by leafing through books on repairs and DIY.
Repairs
We undertake a wide range of repairs. If you can bring it in, we are confident we can find someone to take a look at the problem.
Is your Camera not as snappy as it was?
Is your Laptop on it’s last logs?
Is your Satchel a sad sack?
Has your Lamp lost it’s spark?
Is your Clock running out of time?
Has your Bicycle turned a corner?

Tess Andow
Chair
I was motivated to get in involved with setting up a repair café in Northallerton because after nearly all my adult life of volunteering, outside of my day job both in the UK and Abroad in various conservation, environment projects. I see it as an opportunity to work with like-minded individuals to reduce waste and inspire others around sustainability issues. Through the repair café people will be able to get things fixed or repaired, whilst also socializing and sharing knowledge, developing skills around recycling and reusing. Ultimately building a more sustainable mindset in the local community and helping look after our beautiful area and the wider planet

Richard Zealley
Treasurer
I have a background in I.T. but also love cooking and growing food and I help to run our local allotment association. I’ve always hated throwing anything away if it can be repaired and do my best to fix things myself if I can, so the idea of Repair Café really appeals to me. When I heard about setting one up in Northallerton I was very keen to get involved and hope I can put my organisational skills to good use, and if any old computers come in I might also do a few repairs

Chris Allen
Secretary
I am an electronic engineer and I feel strongly about the environment we have around us. I am a keen repairer and like to see an item repurposed or repaired, rather than replaced. I am responsible for communication and social media for the Northallerton Repair Café
